All volunteers must sign up in advance. Volunteer spots are limited so our team can provide clear instructions, safe working conditions, and meaningful tasks. Drop in volunteers cannot be accommodated.

Volunteer opportunities are available on select Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

  • Item descriptioHerban Produce welcomes community members who are interested in supporting urban agriculture, land stewardship, food access, and community based farming. Volunteer opportunities are scheduled in advance and are based on farm needs, available supervision, and the number of spots open for each shift.n

  • Yes. All volunteers must sign up in advance. We are not able to accommodate drop in volunteers. This helps us prepare the right number of tools, tasks, and team support for each volunteer day.

  • Wednesday shifts are smaller and more focused on regular farm tasks. They are best for returning volunteers or individuals who want to support the farm more consistently.

    Saturday Community Volunteer Days are larger and are a good fit for new volunteers, community members, and groups.

  • Volunteer tasks may include planting, weeding, mulching, bed cleanup, harvesting support, washing bins, organizing tools, compost work, event setup, or general site cleanup. Tasks change depending on the season, weather, and farm priorities.

  • No experience is required for most volunteer opportunities. Our team will provide basic instructions for the tasks assigned that day. Volunteers should be willing to listen carefully, follow directions, and work safely.

  • Please bring a water bottle. You may also bring gardening gloves, sunscreen, and any personal items you need to be comfortable outdoors. Tools and gloves may be available, but bringing your own gloves is helpful.

  • Children may be able to volunteer during volunteer days if they are accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. Youth participation must be approved in advance. Some tasks may not be appropriate for younger children.

  • Yes, group volunteer opportunities may be available by request. Group volunteer days must be scheduled in advance and are based on farm capacity, seasonal needs, and staff availability.

  • No. Volunteers may only come during confirmed volunteer shifts or scheduled volunteer events. This helps us maintain safety, protect farm operations, and make sure someone is available to guide the work.
